BANS Board Positions Open

There are a few board positions currently open:

  • Legislative Director
  • Break Through to Nursing
  • Community Director
  • Fundraising Chair

Getting involved with BANS is a wonderful opportunity. To apply for any of the open positions fill out the application form here: BANS application. Applications will be accepted until 10/13. Further details on the responsibilities for each position can be found below:

 

Legislative Director responsibilities:

  1. Stay informed concerning legislation in Georgia affecting nurses and nursing students.
  2. Coordinate annual BANS attendance at GNA Legislative Day, if applicable.
  3. Submit resolutions from BANS to the House of Delegates at the annual convention.
  4. Write legislative updates for the BANS newsletter as applicable.
  5. Coordinate and submit the annual GANS Political involvement Award.
  6. Be familiar with parliamentary procedures. Assure that parliamentary procedure is followed at all Executive Board meetings and at state conventions.
  7. Ensure that annual constituency forms and delegate forms are submitted by the president of BANS.
  8. Be responsible for review and recommendation for change in the Bylaws and Policies and Procedures.
  9. Provide a monthly written or oral report to Executive Board members at board meetings. If the board member is planning on being absent, an emailed board report will need to be sent from that board member to the President and Secretary prior to the board meeting.
  10. Serve on the finance committee, if established.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned by the president.

Break Through to Nursing (BTN) responsibilities:

  1. Submit BTN project plans for the year to the Executive Board by the third month in office and keep the Executive Board informed of the goals and progress of the projects.
  2. Work with the Brenau Recruiting office to facilitate nursing school recruitment opportunities for BANS, as applicable.
  3. Write a BTN update article for the BANS newsletter, as applicable.
  4. Provide a monthly written or oral report to Executive Board members at board meetings. If the board member is planning on being absent, an emailed board report will need to be sent from that board member to the President and Secretary prior to the board meeting.
  5. Schedule visits with and/or presentations to nursing school orientation meetings, to the incoming junior class members, or to new incoming EWC students.
  6. Assist GANS with membership recruitment and retention.
  7. Coordinate and submit the annual GANS BTN Award and Image of Nursing Award submissions, if the chapter has done applicable projects.
  8. Coordinate with the Community Health Director if chapter community health projects are amenable to participation by pre-nursing students or other populations identified as breakthrough to nursing candidate groups.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned by the president.

Community Director responsibilities:

  1. Submit Community Health project plans to the Executive Board by the third month in office and keep the Executive Board informed of the goals and progress of the projects.
  2. Keep the Executive Board apprised of the volunteer needs, supply needs, and logistical issues as the projects progress, distributing and updating timelines as necessary to ensure project completion.
  3. Work to develop or participate in statewide, national, or international community service projects.
  4. Coordinate and submit the annual GANS Community Health Award.
  5. Provide information for the Community Health page of the BANS website and submit articles to the BANS newsletter.
  6. Serve on the Bulletin Board committee.
  7. Keep a running count of all BANS points (for community and school service activities, or other opportunities as identified annually by the BANS Board of Directors) earned by BANS members, and provide this information when requested by individual members within ten (10) days. Report points earned to the Board as necessary to give awards earned, or for graduation/pinning purposes.
  8. Provide a monthly written or oral report to Executive Board members at board meetings. If the board member is planning on being absent, an emailed board report will need to be sent from that board member to the President and Secretary prior to the board meeting.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned by the president.

Fundraising Chair responsibilities:

  1. Identify, design, and coordinate fundraising opportunities for BANS.
  2. Present Executive Board with options for fundraising, including t-shirt designs or other merchandise designs, as applicable.
  3. Negotiate pricing and supply deadlines with vendors of BANS fundraising products.
  4. Assist the community director with charitable projects that require the purchase of supplies or event t-shirts or products, either for consumption or for sale.
  5. Report all monetary proceeds to the treasurer and work closely with the treasurer to account for fundraising profits.
  6. Oversee the BANS store inventory, and report to the executive committee any needs or recommendations.
  7. Be in charge of fundraising scheduling and table purchase at the annual GANS convention and at the annual NSNA convention, and at other scheduled opportunities, as available.
  8. Serve on the finance committee, if established.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned by the president.

Fundraising Night @ Buffalo Wild Wings!

BANS will be holding a fundraising night at Buffalo Wild Wings (address below) on Wednesday August 9th. 10% of all checks that mention they are there for Brenau will go to BANS at the end of the night so tell all your friends and family to come out and eat lunch or dinner!!

We not only need people to volunteer to help spread the word, but also on site. Please let Jessica know if you are interested in helping in any way! This will go toward your points for BANS as well!
